Entrants Presentation Guidance Notes
Group Presentation: All entrants will enter the
ring collectively in catalogue number and proceed at a walk around
the ring on the right rein to allow the judge his/her initial inspection.
Once the judge has completed his/her initial assessment entrants
will be asked to leave the ring collectively by the ring steward
with the first catalogue entry remaining in the ring. Catalogue
order will be followed throughout.
Individual Presentations: Handlers should proceed
to enter the arena individually in catalogue order as soon as the
previous entrant has finished their presentation and left the ring.
Assessment of Conformation & Model: Entrants
should present their horse(s) parallel to the judge where indicated
by the ring steward. (No ground poles will be used to stand between
to facilitate the smooth running of the classes. The SSH feel that
foals and young horses, some away from home for the first time in
an unfamiliar environment may find them distracting.
Presentation On The Triangle: Once the judge has
completed their assessment of conformation, entrants will be asked
to present their horse on the triangle (optimum size of the triangle
is 20m x 20m x 20m) Horses should walk once around the triangle
on the right rein followed by the same procedure in trot. (Any part
of this assessment may be repeated at the judge’s discretion)
Handlers should finish their presentation by presenting the horse(s)
parallel to the judge and leave the arena when directed.
Prize Giving: Upon completion of the individual
assessments all entrants will re-enter the ring as a group in catalogue
order. Animals will be placed as indicated by the ring steward.
The judge will then allocate his/her final placings and prizes will
be awarded. First and second prizewinners are invited to perform
a lap of honor at the handler’s discretion in either walk
or trot.
Championship: The first and second placed entrants
from each class will enter the ring and parade on the right rein
for the judge. At the judges discretion entrants may be asked to
present the horse for a final assessment. The judge will then select
the overall Champion & Reserve and prizes will be awarded. The
Champions and/or Reserves of the SSH mare & young stock classes
may qualify for additional Show Championships, please refer to show
schedule.
Score Sheets: For continuity in this series of
qualifiers the same score sheet format will be used at each venue.
Entrants will NOT receive score sheets on the day, however, once
the scores have been collated by the SSH they will be posted out
to all competitors.
Code Of Conduct: The SSH requests that at all
times, entrants show courtesy towards judges, show staff and fellow
competitors respecting punctuality and presentation in catalogue
order. Abuse or disrespect to any of the latter, whether verbal
or otherwise will NOT be tolerated and anyone contravening this
will be asked to leave the show-ground.
In order to show your horses to the best of your/their ability/advantage
the SSH strongly recommend that practice at home is most beneficial.
The SSH trusts that these classes will be both educational and
enjoyable to both horses and participants and would like to take
the opportunity to wish everyone an enjoyable day out.
